One Side Slack Sail into Roll to Gazelle and One Side Slack Pike Through to Roll to Gazelle (mini rig). Post your questions, comments and work below!

This is a fun one though training outside with the wind does make that recapture of the silk a bit tricky 😂 interesting how doing the (I call it flippy dolphin entry) changes just by holding that bit of slack. Will definitely be drilling that part as suggested ☺️

Wind adds a whole new layer of variation!

While I am still working on getting into the S-wrap with a loop (I can do it without the loop!), what can I do to work on the rest of the sequence?
-

Getting into the swrap with the loop is throwing me off because of the difference in tension between the 2 strands. I have a stretchy silk so I end up with my hands at different heights when I go to invert. Maybe it’s mental but it’s throwing me off. Any workarounds or tips?

Solid question! Stretchy silks take a little extra thought sometimes. Added to the list!

Thank you for this validation SilkStars! I am also struggling with the looped inversion. Are there exercises you can recommend now to help me get stronger to do this? I think that might be what’s holding me back and I wanna get crackin’! 😜

Great question, added to the list. For now, try playing with the looped grip and inverting from the ground to build familiarity. Brett may have more ideas about other ways to play with the skill.Happy training!

Started playing with this one tonight! That loop definitely makes the wrap more complicated! I think I have it figured out, but I’m gonna revisit tomorrow when I’m fresh. Hand placement seems to be super important. I’m enjoying the challenge!!

I think I asked this a long time ago, but I forgot the answer. For the “mini-rig” options, what is the minimum suggested ceiling height? Thanks!

The minimum suggested height for each mini-rig challenge will be slightly different depending on the combo. We try to condense them as best we can. This particular one could be done with 10 feet if there is no sliding. We always recommend to walk through the sequences slowly the first couple of times to make sure you have enough height.

OKay – thanks! As a general rule, maybe 10-12 feet for mini rig options? I am asking because I am hoping to set one up in the next year (ish) in a home. 🙂

That sounds wonderful! The higher you can get/fit the better! Depending on how tall the person is, we’d say most mini rig challenges can work with around 10-14ft of height. Sometimes you may have to modify things a little for 10-12ft.

Is it possible that you haven’t signed out of the crowd cast Q&A yet? I’m trying to go back and replace some things, but it looks like the timer is still going so it won’t let me back up yet.

I’m off to a late start. (Covid then bad weather), but thanks for the beautiful sequence and informative Q&A! Hopefully soon I can try this.

I am also struggling from the beginning only, but its also because my inversion is still bad and with looped hand it makes it more difficult. If I manage at all – its very ugly. Will try today to move forward even if I manage the ugly beginning because I havent moved past s-wrap so far. By the way, to make it easier with looped hand – i tend to aim to hold the loop a bit higher than unlooped hand and when I hand on both hands it makes me feel more even.

Took me a whole training session to get this tiny piece of the alternate entry, which is slippy, so sharing in case anyone else encounters. Make sure to slide hand along lower back UNDER the first tail when pulling the second tail to make slack. I kept reaching OVER, which ends up putting in a cross and locking the first tail against the back. Now I’ve figured that part, can’t wait to keep working on it!

Good find!

One other thing to think about, just in case this is why you are feeling slippery in this variation. After you complete the catcher’s wrap on the single strand, keep the thighs parallel to each other and perpendicular to the floor. The hips should be active in this hang if you want the wrap to not slide. It can be a place to work hands free. If the hips are allowed to relax into a straddle position or if the wrapped leg knee drops back or side relative to the knee hook leg, the wrap can slide.

I’d like to get the entry to s wrap (not the alternative but the one demonstrated in the original video). It’s tricky with the split silks. Could you have a look at my video and see if you have any hot tips. Oh and ignore the bit where the tail gets stuck on my toe! That doesn’t normally happen. https://www.silksstars.com/community/caro/media/5547/ I have a stretchy silk so the length/method for grabbing the loop is because of that. Thanks

Thanks for the video, it’s super duper helpful!
Great work on a stretchy silk, uniquely fun for this particular entrance to a uneven S wrap. When you set the feet for the kick wrap, see if you can tuck up a little higher when you put your feet on the silks before the wrap to get your hips even higher to your hands. Your pull up is good, let’s help it by starting your hips higher before it happens.
The next part to focus on, and this is almost always farther than you think it has to be, is getting the second hip past the pole before thinking about the tail moving across the lap for the S wrap finish. It’s a quick moment, but getting your hips as far away from center while putting on the back wrap to get the tail as high as possible on the second hip before kicking the wrap back across the lap is key for a tight waist wrap before the invert.
Happy training!
