OK, Jill with the first question! Lol towards the end when I’m in the bondage, wrist lock lol on my right hand and I’m trying to push the silk away with my left so I can do a Russian climb to get out of the wrist lock, I’m finding that the free silk is wrapped around me too tightly. I don’t seem to be able get it to unwrap and be free so that I can then do a Russian climb on it.

Hi Jill! Maybe it’s happening because you’re not pinching the tail that’s wrapped around your wrist with your right leg before you enter the pose for spinning. When I skipped this step, both tails were on the same side of my body and got really tangled.

OK. I’m full of questions! Lol first, I may need to know the exact counts for the hair choreography!JK Zoe looks so exotic and amazing doing this and I feel like a clod! I do seem to be ending out much lower than Zoe. She’s only doing two climbs, but I don’t have enough space to do the full bondage wrist hold spin thingy. I’m already at the mat.

Great questions, especially about the counts for hairography 😉 Added to the list for the Q&A.

Hello! Just a comment, I cant see in the videos of this month the CC option, for me are very useful bc of my level of English 🙂 Thank you!

                          Hola! What a beautiful sequence!
I have this awkward video of my first day trying this challenge https://www.silksstars.com/community/soledad/media/6093/ and based on that, I have two questions:

                          1) In my first attempt, at 00:00:45, I fall. I don’t really understand what I did wrong—if it’s related to my posture or if I slipped the fabric too much, etc.
If you have any idea what my mistake might have been, it would be great, thank you so much!

                          2) My second question is about my second attempt. Just in case I only tried the wraps, without any spin yet.
I feel very insecure holding on with one hand, and when I unwrap before going to the spin part, I feel like I won’t be able to support myself with just one hand, so I used both.
I don’t know if it’s a matter of strength or posture, or other. You can see it in the video at around 00:02:48. Any comment would be very useful! Thank you very much!

Very nice sequence! I love the mini-rig one with the coffin pose. My main struggle is wrist lock – when I am in the sequence I struggle to wrap it correctly, then I go down, watch Zoe very close, repeat from the floor and all is well but when I go up I again do some funny movements with my wristlock and sometimes overwrap it and cannot exit from it gracefully later🤦🏻‍♀️

How lovely, another wonderful sequence for February!
I’m trying to get things right, starting with the mini rig.
And these are my questions so far:

                                  – Exiting the coffin: I feel like I can’t support my body weight with my left hand as I slip out of the hold of the fabric around my torso.
                                  – Climbing up onto the fabric to get into the position from which I’ll release the footlock: my leg in the footlock rises with my torso… maybe I’m not tensing or activating it correctly… it almost feels like I’m going through a pike before I get back up.
                                  – Does more slack in the wrist lock mean less wrist spasm if I forget to activate my shoulder while practicing my split?
                                  – I’m losing my bearings when entering the nutcracker. I think I’m missing a step releasing my right leg, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to take a video.
                                  Thanks!

One more question – whats the smoothest way to undo the wrist lock? I am struggling there🤦🏻‍♀️ I think Zoe catches above the wrist lock and then unwinds?

You have a few options: grab the tail of the wrist lock with the free hand and unwind the wrap, pull the locked hand down, fingers straight up, or if your shoulder are above the locked wrist, unwinding the wrap by reversing the pathway of the locked wrist. Whichever works best for you, make sure your weight is mostly in the other strand so the ‘lock’ softens. It’s also easier if your shoulders are in line with the locked wrist. Happy training!

Ok, i watched my videos – I am mostly ending much lower than my wristlock maybe thats why I am so uncomfortable to undo it. If I dont want to lose height that means I need to aim to a higher Russian sit rather than lowering my wristlock, right?

Yes, really lift those knees to get the Russian sit high.

Help please! I see what Dorag was saying about grabbing the silk tail with the front foot and I did that but I still can’t get set free. I’m afraid to go any higher because I have yet to free myself without putting my feet down. Now that Dorag has pointed it out, I’m seeing that Zoè has the 2nd tail outside her right hip but I don’t seem to be able to get mine to duplicate so I have an extra wrap or cross of the tails that is so tight, even sliding the left hand down to push the silk away isn’t working. Can you help me see what I’m doing wrong, please. Thank you!

I think the problem now is that you’re traping the left tail and taking it with you as you rotate. It should stay behind you. Try placing your right leg infront of both tails, not between them.

The easiest way for me is to place my right foot on my left knee before making the wristlock.

Yes, good catch, @dorag . @jill-b-lovin-aerial a good rule of thumb for moving around separated poles is keep the tails from between the legs unless you are doing so on purpose for sake of a wrap. Anytime the tails go over the thighs, wrap is added. Although more height would let the tail drop off and unravel, if you want to work low, be very mindful of where the tails go.

Is it possible that my silks are just too long? And if so… now what? Alternative ending of some sort?

I think you create some additional wrap with your front leg and the tails get really trapped there and one tail is unable to come to the other side of your leg. If you see Zoe’s video, her tails are separated

So maybe its the height🤷🏻‍♀️

Jill you could drop the spin but Ksenia has a point. If you go a bit higher, which you are nervous to do, (which is totally fair!) your tails would have more space between you and the floor for your legs to unwind or kick free from the wrap. Height is your friend when tails need to unwind.
You can also think of the hand on the free tail pulling down and pressing out. That, along with supporting the single wrist lock shoulder from engaging from the pelvis up, might make your single wrist lock not feel so alone. You’ve got this!
