I am very excited to finally be able to do a monthly challenge! Will start my practice on Monday!
I love that this sequence has nice spinning opportunities! Also hipkeys are my weak skills so I am happy I will be forced to practice it:)-

Hi! I don’t know if anyone has any suggestions, but when I twist my leg (like at 3:35 in Rachel’s video), I tend to twist my knee 🙁 Could this be due to a lack of hip mobility? Or is there something I could be aware of and practice? I did this same movement in a hammock class a few weeks ago and injured my right knee. I’m recovering and getting back to training, but seeing a similar movement in this sequence, even with the left leg, has made me a little afraid of doing it wrong again.
Thank you!-

Great question. Rachel may have some more details for this particular combo. As a general ‘rule’, you want the knee to move in alignment between the ankle and the hip. So your leg wants to move as a unit with muscles supporting the joints from the hip through the knee and down to the ankle.

I believe I am having the same difficulty as Soledad. I have flipped the combo to have the twisting on my right leg which is somewhat better. I am struggling to open up in to that beautiful split that Rachel does and while I know, NO ONE splits like Rachel, how can I come closer and then the twist up after the split isn’t happening for me. Is this a back flexibility thing? Thanks for the fun combo!

Good question, and yes, Rachel has splits that go FOREVER!
Added to the Q&A.

Due to a TFL injury on my left side, is it ok when we flip to the stag shape/diagonal split (1m 13) to use my right leg at the top instead without having to do a left sided hip key at the start? I did trial it low and it held me fine. I can’t do a left sided hip key currently as it strains my TFL so trying to find a happy medium 😂

Variations to keep your body happy are great! Typically when there is a sit between the poles, you can make shapes on either side 🙂

Hello! I’m doing something “creative” and so seem to end up in the wrong wrap. I beat to knees, put tail between legs and think I’m doing something wrong as I pull above to straddle. In the Q&A can you please do that but slowly and explain what each leg does relative to the loops? It’s my first try so I mayyy figure it out. But I would love your tips just in case I don’t master it. THANKS!

I think you are doing what i was doing till I finally figured out how to bring my both legs to the right and invert. Initially I was just inverting and and hooking my right leg, then I noticed that I only had a loop around my thigh which wasnt feeling safe to let go and drop. Then I watched carefully and saw that we bring legs to the right to make sure we have a wrap around our belly then the drop is very safe.

Here, I made a video to illustrate what I mean and what “creative” wrap I was doing initially. 🙂 Please ignore my ugly feet and knees:)

Thanks so much for sharing! I’m glad I wasn’t the only “creative” one. And I will try again today.

Thanks all! I had some success, and now see that I had a different mistake/creative twist. I pushed both legs down from the kneeling loop, but now see that the right foot lifts up before both legs go to the right.

Hi!!! At the end of the drop, I’m short of breath. Maybe the slack is too tight on my belly, or slightly towards my ribs… any suggestions?
I’m also very confused before the wheeldown, which I’ve never learned or practiced. It feels impossible to keep my torso horizontal, and maybe I’m gripping the tail too tightly and can’t rotate downward.-

Good questions, yes the wrap can get tight for the wheeldown. Added to the Q&A to see what cues Rachel will have. For now, check out the core activator under the Ground Workouts tab, page three.

Kim working on mini rig version this month. Struggle with keeping tension. As soon as I tuck over into the sit the silks slide right down like I’m riding an elevator, and I end up on the ground every time. Any tips?

Thank you for the Q&A! Helpful as always. Sorry I missed it live.
