I tried the first part with the arm wrap two times today and I have a wicked bruise on my right bicep….is this normal? hoping I can build up some tolerance! Veronica makes it look so easy and painless

Yes! This is delightfully normal. The squeeze can be intense, the bruising varies body to body but can also look pretty intense. The bruising and sensation will most likely change over time. Again, this is body to body specific. Some people will bruise for longer than others. It is possible to push the body to much too quickly. Listening and feeling if your body is recoiling from the wrap can be helpful to keep the training for this new sensation on the positive and productive side.

Is it possible to find a way to jump into the sequence ‘post crocodile’?

I am getting my right wrist so tightly wrapped in the croc, that after I hook my knee, I cannot get the wraps off of my wrist. I’m just stuck there all knotted up. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So… I am on the struggle bus with this one!

I can’t seem to get the crocodile straight and instead mine leans sideway.
I’ve tried to keep some slack in my wrap and even to lower my upper hand in the croc but it does not fix it.

Also, am I the only one with pubis bone pain when in the position? It is from leaning on the pole, I am not sure that is right.

Lastly, I realize that my grip might be too weak to super my neck hang!

      Any tips?
      See video below

Ps: Veronica, I am in awe of your grace in those challenging moves!

Hi all! I love the look of this challenge! This is cheeky but I am playing catch up because I just sailed from NZ to Vava’u, Tonga… not conducive to internet access or silks!! So here’s my visitation of the May Mini Rig Challenge (thanks Brett!), and I look forward to tackling June!

In the croc, I’m having trouble consistently getting the flat position. Sometimes my front end is dipped down and I struggle to bring my chest up. I also have short arms 😂 I straighten my left arm as high as it came go on the pole before moving into it. Is there anything I can do to help make it more flat? I don’t have much lower back flex due to a pre existing injury.

Hi Danica! There a few places you can check in to see if you can find a more engaged/flat croc. If you feel like your bottom elbow is closer to your ribs rather than your hips, you can use a side bend to close the distance between ribs and hips on the bottom arm side to get your elbow under the pelvis. For the arch, you have several places to find arch beyond your lower back, lucky for everyone with lower back concerns! The front of your hips, upper back, and shoulders are all places to pull from to find arch, or in the case, enough arch for a flatter shape. A croc shape may have heels higher that hips, courtesy of serious glute engagement and nice open hip flexors. And the shoulders can be lifted by thinking about pulling the ribs forward, out, and then up to find a long curve to lift the shoulders and head. Upper back arch up exercises (starting with belly down on the floor and lifting the head, shoulders, and ribs off the ground using the back line of the body) can help prepare your croc to find a supported shape on top of the bottom arm. Parts of the Shoulder Support video under the Ground Workouts tab can also be a great place to start. Keep us posted about progress!

Thanks for the tips! I am getting my elbow to my hips, I just feel top heavy and at a downwards diagonal. I’ve posted a video to show what I mean (my head is down admittedly!). I’ve given that pose a break for now as the bruising on my arm is making it a bit ouchie to train, but on the plus side my neck hang is doing great!

Oh yeah! A little rest for the bicep with a little upper back arch work, cannot wait to see how that croc comes out after a little reset!

Hello all! This is my attempt at June Challenge. I still have trouble getting footlock set, and also sweeping left leg down and onto right after balance. But I sure am enjoying the challenge!

Great question! The restrictions of the wrapped thigh makes the foot lock pathway a bit more narrow. Two places you can find more wiggle room: keeping the slack for the foot lock tighter around the ankle so you have more fabric to manipulate around the foot for the final part of the lock and crossing the paths of the foot and the hand participating in the movement. The foot being locked can travel across the body towards the stabilized leg and the hand wrapping the lock can travel as far past the pinky toe of the locking foot as possible. These two pieces together can give you enough slack to finish the loop under the foot. If using the opposite hand to foot is tricky, trying same hand as foot being locked is possible and has it’s own nuances to manage. However! the slack is easier to move past the pinky toe and therefore the loop is slightly easier to finish for the lock. See what works best for you! Happy training!

Hi! Is it ok if I flamenco grip the fabric when exiting the neck hang?

Sounds like a great variation to help with the flag moment that comes with the neck hang exit!

At least I improved my problem areas from last post, but I didn’t stretch my knee up the post after croc. I think I was rushing. Oops.
Foot lock seems better for me if I toss the loop and lift my turned out knee. Not easy though! Thanks for the challenge.

HELLLLLLLLP! Please! 😂 I’m STILL having the same problem I had in the beginning which means I have yet to even try the end! 😬 I still stuck and can not get my right arm out after the croc. Veronica said to get my hips up higher and I think I am. What am I missing? If they’re not high enough… how??? Or is it something else I am doing? Thanks

Great question, Jill! Your hips look like they are doing their job, hooray! The next place to check in is the path of the elbow. It may be that your elbow is passing the pole as you turn to hook the legs, which is crossing the tail with the pole and making a very sticky spot. To release the croc, all of the fabric wraps you built from the beginning need to have the same relationship for them to come off. The wrap highest on your arm might be passing the second wrap to make the cross. Try keeping the elbow glued to the pelvis as you turn to hook the legs or renegotiate the elbow to undo the crossed fabric on your arm. Please keep us posted!

Hi Jill! I had this problem when I accidentally made an extra wrap on my arm. I can’t figure out from your video if this is what happened.

Hi Jill! I had this issue and am not sure if I should reply here? Yes, I think keeping my elbow bent at the hip at first did help. I undid first wraps with elbow close to side and then the big sweep did the trick to release the rest. Good luck.
